HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FEET- SAY NO TO FOOT ODOUR
Taking care of your feet might be the last thing on your mind until they start hurting.
You don't need an expensive spa treatment to take care of your feet. Spending just a few minutes a day in foot care and choosing the right shoes can keep you free of problems that may lead to pain and foot odour. Here are few things you can do to take good care of your feet...
- Examine your feet: Check your feet for cuts, bruises and swellings when you take off your shoes.
- Soak your feet: Soak your feet in warm soapy water for approximately 10 minutes. This helps to soften the skin and nails. Then, gently remove calluses with a pumice stone . This gets rid of dead skin cells as well as calluses.
- Use a moisturizer: After soaking, use basic lotion to moisturize your feet. You can do this several times a day.
- Wear Comfortable Shoes: For those of us that are in love with heels, they are fine for the office but you may want to try some flats after work. When shopping for shoes please buy your exact size . Overly large shoes prevent your heels from settling in the proper place as you walk causing blisters, calluses and sore heels.
- Alternate the shoes you wear everyday. This includes having two pairs of your favorite everyday style because shoes need time to air out to avoid infections and foot odour.
- Keep the blood flowing to your feet: Put your feet up when you are sitting. Wiggle your toes for 5 minutes, 2 or 3 times a day. Avoid crossing your legs for long period of time,to enable blood flow in your feet and legs.
- Trimming: Trim toe nails straight across rather than in a curved pattern. This prevents ingrown toenails, allowing the straight edge of the nail to advance as one unit.
- Avoid having your pedicure in a salon especially if you are not sure of the cleanliness of the tubs and instruments used.
If you've not been paying much attention to your feet this is the time to start pampering them!
If you find this helpful.. don't forget to give it a thumbs up!
