IS IT RIGHT TO WEAR A WHITE DRESS TO A WHITE WEDDING

It used to be that no respectful wedding guest would ever wear a white or black dress to a wedding.Black looks too funereal ,while white was in competition with the bride.

Now you will frequently see guests wearing a black dress. So is it okay to wear a white dress as well? The bride should get to stand out on her wedding day, and one of the ways she does that is by being the only one wearing white.

A big 'NO' is our answer to this question . If you show up in white you are not technically doing anything wrong but people might talk and you will be known as 'the girl who wore white at so-and-so's wedding'.

Let the big day be about the guest of honour-the bride. Even if you ask the bride and she's okay with it there is someone at her wedding who won't be.

And you don't want to be remembered as the random girlfriend-of-a-friend who wore white to the wedding. There are some gray areas where you can make your own judgement call:

  • -if your dress is only partially white . For example,a white bodice with a coloured skirt.

  • -if your dress have a white background with an all over print of a different colour.

The only exception to wearing a white dress to a wedding is if the bride and groom specifically request that their guests wear white.
Beyonce and Jay Z did that for their 2008 wedding in New York.
In that case, by all means: Yes!!! Please wear the white dress it is always good to follow what the happy couple specifically request.
